Burl Mushroom Boxes

This was my very first attempt at making little mushroom boxes! I didn’t even have a lathe yet…
Luckily the pieces of burl that I had to work with were big enough to be able to incorporate the live edge and bark into these cute little mushrooms! These three were all shaped by hand with the help of my oscillating belt sander and the pockets were drilled out with a forsner bit. This does mean the bottoms are not flush as the point of the forsner is there still, but really, it shows you can make some cute little projects with minimal tools!

Made from some kind of burl, poplar maybe? Finished with butcher block oil
